Cromwell Council Clarifies Facilities Committee's Capital-Review Role
Town Council · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Cromwell council reviews building assessments, stalls on Community Field Road land purchase. Facilities Committee chairman Jason LeBlanc reported six town buildings mostly rated "good," but called the community building bad enough that it "should be rated emergency," recommending no further spending there until officials decide its future. Town Manager Tony said talks to buy property on Community Field Road remain stalled over the seller's refusal to fund a full environmental study, with a possible executive session floated for next week.
The council also learned a $15 million Route 372 reconstruction through Pearson Park will require a 20 percent town match, unanimously reappointed Phyllis Becker to the Conservation Commission through 2030, and accepted, "with regret," a commission member's resignation. Mayor James Demetriades said the town manager search is "moving really well," with committee interviews "forthcoming imminently."
